The Procurement Act 2023 places a significant focus on Contract Management. We see this right from the outset – section 1 now defines Procurement to mean: “the award, entry into and 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 of a contract” Furthermore it is now a legal obligation to manage most contracts over £5M inc. VAT. This half day Course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge to gain a clear understanding of the key drivers for successful contract management and the legislative requirements. The course focuses on the key objectives, aspects and outcomes of Contract management.
The course will provide a detailed understanding of the contract management process and how it should be embedded into the Contracting Authorities structure and culture. Delegates will gain an understanding of best practice contract management tools, techniques and approaches to performance and relationship management.
Contract management is often overlooked and under resourced, leading to failures in achieving the value and benefits that can be realised by proficient contract management.

This course is intended for procurement practitioners and contract managers who wish to understand and apply the tools, techniques and processes of contract management. In many organisation contracts are not managed by a dedicate Contract Management team, but more likely by end users, such as technical staff, line managers including operations, maintenance, HR, general services, and many other operational stakeholders. Learning outcomes
Delegates will understand the key objectives when implementing a contract management process and the importance of stakeholder engagement and monitoring systems, such as Key Performance Indicators. Delegates will also gain an understanding of the relevance of the new provisions set out in the Procurement Act 2023, regarding the discretionary exclusion for supplier poor performance, publication of Contract Performance Notices, modifications to contracts and the impact contract management has on these provisions.
