Northern Marine strengthens supply chain transparency and ESG credentials by partnering with Achilles

1st June 2026, Abingdon, UK – Achilles, supply chain risk management experts, today announces that Northern Marine Group has joined the Achilles network to enhance its supplier prequalification, governance, and compliance capabilities. Northern Marine Group, part of the Stena Group, delivers world-class ship management and marine services to maritime and offshore industries.

The partnership marks a significant step in Northern Marine’s ongoing commitment to meeting the highest ESG standards, strengthening supply chain transparency and aligning its operations with evolving regulatory and commercial requirements across the maritime sector.

Improving compliance and consistency across the supply chain

As part of its internal review processes, Northern Marine identified the need to improve consistency in supplier onboarding and ensure alignment with its own compliance standards. Existing processes were no longer sufficient to meet the increasing complexity and scale of its operations.

By partnering with Achilles, Northern Marine gain access to a robust, standardised prequalification and risk management framework – enabling greater visibility, improved data integrity, and streamlined supplier engagement.

Joanne Henderson, Strategic Purchasing Manager, Northern Marine Group, said:

“Ensuring our supply chain operates to the highest standards of governance and compliance is fundamental to how we do business. As our operations grow and we pursue increasingly complex opportunities, it became clear that our existing processes were no longer fit for purpose.

“Through this partnership, Northern Marine is taking an important step towards digitising its supplier management processes and embedding ESG considerations into everyday decision-making – helping to build a more transparent, responsible, and resilient value chain.”

Enabling growth and supporting major bids

The decision to join Achilles was also driven by commercial opportunities. As Northern Marine continues to pursue major contracts and growth opportunities, prequalification through established supplier networks such as Achilles has become a key requirement.

With a robust and comprehensive, externally recognised prequalification system in place, potential barriers in competitive bid environments are removed.

Chris Coyle, Director of Sales at Achilles commented,

“We’re proud to welcome Northern Marine to the Achilles network at a time when supply chain transparency and assurance are more critical than ever in the maritime sector.”

Achilles now provides Northern Marine with a trusted platform to demonstrate compliance, strengthen credibility, and meet the expectations of clients and partners across global markets.

Strengthening resilience in maritime supply chains

The maritime sector continues to face increasing pressure to demonstrate transparency, resilience, and ESG compliance across complex global supply chains. Achilles supports organisations like Northern Marine by providing the tools and insights needed to manage supplier risk proactively and at scale.

Through this partnership, Northern Marine is well positioned to enhance operational resilience, meet stakeholder expectations, and support sustainable growth.
