At Achilles, we run annual Meet the Members events for different industry sectors with the aim of adding value to our members. We give you the opportunity to make vital first contact with key buyers with the ultimate goal of helping you win new business. Our latest Meet the Members was focused on our European Oil and Gas community, FPAL. Held in Aberdeen on the 28th March 2018, we welcomed leading industry speakers, buyers and suppliers to learn, share and network. Who was there? With over 120 attendees and exhibitors from across the sector, leading industry professional Professor Paul de Leeuw, Director of the Oil and Gas Institute at Robert Gordon University opened the conference. Paul shared his insight into the oil and gas industry looking ahead into the industry’s future. Next on the programme was Bill Cattanach, Head of Supply Chain at the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) who shared the latest news about Supply Chain Action Plans (SCAPs) for operators and the impact this will have on suppliers. Fraser Graham, Business Development Executive for Apollo gave an overview of how they use Achilles FPAL to source opportunities, manage their performance and benchmark against competitors. This best practice case study was a prime example of the different ways a supplier can use their Achilles membership to improve business performance and market their organisation to the wider buying community. The last presentation was given by Andrew Collins, Head of Procurement O&M at Spirit Energy (formally Centrica). Andrew discussed Spirit Energy’s mission as well as identifying future projects, giving an active call for solutions and enthusiasm for meeting new suppliers. Networking Opportunities A small exhibition area was the focus for networking in between conference sessions, and gave a number of Achilles FPAL members the opportunity to showcase their business during the networking sessions. “Speakers were very engaging and good to see smaller suppliers exhibiting.” “A good event last week, well organised – some really interesting panel discussions/networking too.”
