Congratulations to Coutts – Winners of the Outward Bound Charity Challenge 2009

Achilles is delighted to congratulate Coutts on becoming the 2009 winners of the Outward Bound Professional Charity Challenge.  The winners were revealed at a private reception held at St. James Palace in the presence of HRH the Duke of York, KG KCVO ADC, Chairman of Trustees for The Outward Bound Trust, who presented the winning team with their prize.

This year’s contestants were pitted against each other in a series of challenges aimed to strengthen team spirit and encourage teamwork. The tasks were linked to skills used in Roman times, from bridge building and aqueduct construction to bear wrestling and verb conjugating! Next year’s Charity Challenge will send contestants to the court of King Arthur.

‘This is now the fourth year that Achilles has supported Outward Bound in their Charity Challenge and we are delighted that the event is still as successful as ever’ said Colin Maund, CEO of Achilles. ‘Our links with Outward Bound stretch back for many years from sponsoring and participating in the Charity Challenge to using Outward Bound Professional to train and develop our own staff.’

Patronage of the Outward Bound Trust is a key element of Achilles’ corporate social responsibility programme. The company is involved in local community projects across the world as well as raising money for Cancer Research UK. Achilles also sponsor the Oxford-Achilles Working Group on Corporate Social Responsibility at the Saïd Business School, an initiative to bring debate and practical recommendations to CSR strategy.
