Achilles throws down the gauntlet

Achilles, principle sponsor of The Outward Bound Professional Charity Challenge 2010, will be fielding two teams for the heats on the 12th – 14th March - including Achilles’ CEO, Colin Maund and group HR Manager, John Cameron. The two teams will be up against several of the company’s strategic partners and key customers, all of whom generously put forward the team entry fee and four willing participants. Up against Achilles’ valiant combatants will be teams from HG Capital, Taylor Wessing, Lovells LLP, Lloyds TSB, Ernst & Young, Mid Counties, Karcher, Deloitte, National Grid and two teams from Coutts & Co.

Now in its 12th year, the event offers the unique opportunity for corporate teams to take part in the challenge - an action-packed and fun weekend in the Lake District. This year’s theme is ‘King Arthur’, so there will be plenty of opportunities for gallantry and outdoor tasks, such as fighting dragons, rescuing damsels and practicing sword-play. The winners will get to spend a weekend at Camelot Castle on the dramatic Cornish coastline.

Taking part in the challenge helps support the charitable objectives of The Outward Bound Trust. Through the power of outdoor challenge and adventure, The Outward Bound Trust shows thousands of young people every year the meaning of the words ‘I can’. It is often those that can least afford it who benefit most from an Outward Bound® course.

The prize-giving event will take place at a champagne and canapé reception at St. James’s Palace in London, with awards and prizes presented by HRH The Duke of York, KG KCVO ADC, Chairman of Trustees for The Outward Bound Trust.
