Since joining Achilles in 2011, Adrian has spearheaded Achilles' global expansion.
He has over 30 years' experience of implementing strategies and improvement programmes for global businesses across the telecommunications, retail, consulting and IT outsourcing industries.This includes two years working as CEO for the listed property group Bovis Lend Lease, with responsibility for its EMEA region.
In the late 1990s he ran the UK's largest residential cable television, internet and telephony business for Cable & Wireless Communications plc. Over five years, he progressed through the organisation, securing Main Board Director roles in the Global Services, and Strategy and Corporate Development divisions.
In 2006, Adrian was appointed Chief Executive Officer for MessageLabs – a leading anti-virus and spam security company. In November 2008 MessageLabs was acquired by Symantec for £400 million. He was subsequently appointed Senior Vice President of Symantec Hosted Services and became a member of the company's operations board.
In 2011, Adrian became a Non-Executive Director of the independent hosting company UK2 Group. With an MA from Cambridge University and an MBA from the London Business School, he is married with four children and lives in Hertfordshire.
Chris is responsible for Achilles' operating strategy and performance. Since being appointed in 2010, he has established a network of operational hubs in Asia, Eastern Europe, America, India and South America. Additionally he has developed standard processes across these locations allowing Achilles to offer a unified service to suppliers and buyers globally.
He has 12 years' experience of working at a senior level to improve business processes and performance within the global telecommunications industry. After 8 years in the British Armed Forces he joined the mobile operator Orange in 1999 completing a number of roles before being appointed as the Director of Strategy Implementation. He joined Cable and Wireless in 2006, becoming the Director of Customer Service Transformation in 2007 before taking up the role of Director of Operational Performance in 2009.
Chris is married with two children and has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology and Biological Sciences from The University of Birmingham.
James is responsible for delivering Achilles’ ambitious growth strategy and driving development in new markets and countries. He brings over 25 years of experience advising and leading global companies in a variety of technology-based services.
For the last four years, he ran a consultancy working with private equity firms and their portfolio companies on acquisition, value realisation and growth strategies. Prior to that, he was responsible for growing the software-as-a-service business within Symantec Corp, and was instrumental in the sale of MessageLabs to Symantec in 2008.
Previously, James was Chief Executive Officer of a telecommunications operator in Panama with $500m in revenues. His other roles have included Chief Operating Officer of Cable & Wireless Communications and Head of Marketing and Product Management in Cable & Wireless Worldwide. James has an MA in Mathematics and a Diploma in Statistics from Cambridge University.
Since being appointed CMO in 2011, Janet Somerville has implemented a wide range of programmes to improve customers' experience of Achilles. This includes enhancing customer feedback initiatives and setting up forums to check products are easy to use and fit for purpose.
She has more than 20 years' experience working in board level, global marketing roles across the telecommunications, high tech, and Software as a Service (SaaS) industries. This includes positions at MessageLabs Ltd, Symantec and Cable and Wireless. Her significant marketing expertise is supported by commercial acumen, gained while she worked as Commercial Director of South Eastern Trains. Janet is married with two children and has an MBA in International Marketing from Cass Business School.
Mark joined Achilles in 1997, and since then has worked in most aspects of the business, including customer support, operations, business development, product management and corporate planning. He became Company Secretary in 2003, and now provides expertise on a wide range of business matters including legal, contractual and corporate governance issues.
He has previously held a Research Fellowship in Information Systems at Cranfield University's School of Management, and prior to joining Achilles, Mark worked in Procurement and Logistics in East Africa, delivering procurement, transportation and distribution services for international and local NGOs across the region. Mark has a BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southampton, and an MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Cranfield University.
Nick Jones joined Achilles in 2009, bringing more than 20 years' experience of working at senior level in global technology and media businesses. This includes positions at Reuters, Virgin Media and Phillips Electronics. In 1991, he was appointed Vice President of Finance at the Fortune 500-listed company RR Donnelly, which offers a wide range of print services.
In 1999, he became Group Controller of Telewest; a telecommunications company which was eventually merged with three similar organisations and re-branded as Virgin Media. Nick was subsequently appointed as its Group Controller & Head of Integration. In 2006, he was appointed Global Head of Finance for Reuters PLC and led the integration of Thomson and Reuters. Nick holds a BA(Hons) in Accounting and Finance, is a non-executive director of YouGov PLC, and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Paul joined Achilles as Group HR Director in February 2011. He is a firm believer in recruiting, retaining and developing talent – which is essential in a business with a rapidly increasing numbers of global employees. Paul is also committed to employee engagement and communications and has introduced a wide range of measures to support Achilles' desire to be an employer of choice.
He has almost 25 years' experience in a variety of HR or related roles across a wide range of industries, including wine and spirits, retail, consulting, executive search and talent assessment and development. From 1995 to 2002, he worked for Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine - a global organisation with many well-known brands – where his last role was as HR Director for Central and Eastern Europe.
In 2002, he moved to be a Director of Xancam Consulting, which helps businesses identify and develop potential leaders within their organisations and in 2005, he joined Strategic Dimensions, a major HR recruitment business, as Director of their search and selection division. Immediately before joining Achilles, between 2008-2011 Paul was Group HR Director for SHL, a global leader in talent assessment and development.
Richard is Director of Global Sales – responsible for new business acquisition and customer management. With over 20 years' experience, Richard has held senior management roles across the EMEA, Americas and Asia Pacific regions. Prior to joining Achilles, he held the role of Vice President of Global Sales for Symantec Corporation, based in New York.
He has also worked as President of the Americas, and Senior Vice President of the EMEA region, for leading business security service MessageLabs. Before those roles, he was Managing Director in Australasia for Interwoven – an international content management company; Divisional Vice President of Storage Australasia, and Managing Director for Computer Associates. He also held a series of positions for the hardware and software company Oracle - including Sales Director, Alliance Director and Senior Consultant. Richard is originally from New Zealand and holds degrees in Computer Science and Strategic Management from Massey University.
Steve Lane is Chief Information Officer – responsible for the development of Achilles’ IT infrastructure and strategy to provide global companies with a single view of all supplier data. Steve also manages the continued investment in, and development of, Achilles’ Software as a Service model.
He brings more than 25 years’ experience in software development and leadership. Prior to joining Achilles, Steve was the Chief Technology Officer at the Decision Analytics division of Experian where he headed up eight software development and R&D centres globally and was responsible for the global software development function. Steve also worked as Vice President of Product Development at Fair Isaac Corporation, where he managed the development of a number of global software products, as well as the growth and management of the company’s offshore operations.
