Based on the project,”Seriøsitet i byggenæringen” (Reliability within the construction business), the ”Byggenæringen Landsforening” (The Building and Civil Engineering Association) (BNL) established a joint supplier’s register for the building and the civil engineering business under the name of StartBANK.

The development of the supplier’s register has taken place in close cooperation with public authorities.

The purpose of the supplier’s register is to contribute towards use of only approved reliable participants in the building and civil engineering business, thus enabling the participants to compete on equal terms. In addition it is the intent of the arrangement to achieve an efficient and resource-saving sharing of joint information.

Suppliers are evaluated on basis of predetermined fixed objective approval criteria which, in turn makes it simpler for the parties of the business to safeguard entering into contracts with reliable companies.

The name StartBANK has been chosen to express that this is the start of a unique and very important approval process.

At entering into contracts the employer will use suppliers with valid certificate of registry in StartBANK. When needed, the employer may add further requirements to suppliers at selection for the different types of projects.

This supplier’s register is arranged in cooperation with the company Achilles, which also operates a qualification arrangement for oil and gasenergy and the transport sector. This company was established in 1990, and the centre for operation of the different arrangements in the Nordic Countries is located in Arendal.
