The Norwegian Construction Industry Association, (Byggenæringen landsforening, BNL), have established a common qualification arrangement StartBANK for the construction industry. This arrangement originated from a pilot project called "Seriousness in the Construction Industry". The development of this qualification system has been carried out in co-operation with the Norwegian authorities.
The purpose of the qualification arrangement is to assist serious participants within the construction industry and ensure that all companies compete on equal terms. In addition, the qualification arrangement creates an efficient and cost-saving sharing of common information. The suppliers will be evaluated on the basis of pre-qualification criteria and this will make it easier for the industry to ensure that the contracts are placed with serious companies. In the service the buyer finds information about possible suppliers.
StartBANK qualification system uses Internet technology to give the buyers access to detailed information about the supplier, for use in selection when purchasing.
The purpose of StartBANK qualification system is to give your organisation the opportunity to get into an industrial network, a well-established standard and good working practice in the industry.
The qualification system is a stepwise qualification of suppliers. Step 1 is called StartBANK to express that this is the start of a unique and very important qualification process. BANK is short for Bygg- og AnleggsNæringens Kvalifikasjonsordning. (Building and Construction Industry Qualification System).
StartBANK is a qualification system for suppliers of products and services.
This qualification system has been established in co-operation with Achilles Systems AS, which operates similar systems for the oil and gas industry, utility industry and the transport industry. Achilles Operation Centre for the different qualification systems in the Nordic region is located in Arendal in the south of Norway.
