The Achilles Supplier Management Services was initially developed in 1990 to satisfy the needs of the North Sea oil and gas operators, enabling them to streamline supplier registration and pre-qualification processes. Oil and gas has since been one of the key sectors for Achilles.
A important characteristic of the oil and gas industry is the fast international supply chain harmonisation we are seeing today. The oil and gas industry is leading these globalisation processes, catalysed by a few number of large and growing international oil companies. This has lead to similar globalisation processes among the oil and gas service industry where a few very large management and service companies are offering truly global capabilities, delivered locally though offices wherever there is an active oil industry.
This globalisation trend is extending to an increasing number of subcontractors and niche service companies.
We are furthermore seeing new demands developing in emerging markets which Achilles is in a unique position to serve. This includes processes related to building up a local service industry, tackling bribery and corruption and contributing to the improvement supplier labour conditions as part of oil and gas developments in new regions. Such processes may include introduction of tools to monitor national content or adherence to labour standards of supplies related to such new developments and other measures to maximise local / national value creation from local / regional oil and gas developments.

- Running the supplier qualification system for ECOPETROL in Colombia.
- Running the supplier qualification system for Argentinean Oil and Gas industry.
- Running the supplier qualification system for Spanish and Portuguese downstream Oil and Gas industry.
- Running the supplier qualification system for Nigerian Oil and Gas industry.
Since the beginnings of 2000 Aquiles Venezuela established in its principles the compromise to support the Oil&Gas Venezuelan industry becoming itself in an efficient tool to maximize the local content.
In that order, Aquiles developed the “Registro Petrolero de Proveedores” better known as RPP. This service let the the Oil&Gas companies to make active sourcing improving their supply chain.
The rapid progress towards globalisation in the oil and gas industry means that this sector has represented a vital proving ground for Achilles services as other sectors and industries are following similar trends.
