Overview
Achilles has recently announced the acquisition of Supplybase VRS. Benefits to the Oil and Gas industry will include streamlined efficiencies in the procurement process never before seen in the Asia Pacific region with Supplybase VRS and Achilles Information Limited joining forces to deliver a new global standard supplier prequalification system.
Supplybase VRS was developed on behalf of APPEA, to provide a vendor registration system for the oil and gas operators, major contractors and suppliers within Australia.
Achilles is a world leader in providing risk management services to supply chains. Operating in 22 countries and providing 32 global supplier management systems to more than 700 of the worlds’ largest companies, Achilles has over 70,000 registered suppliers within these industry communities.

Achilles Oil and Gas participants are made up of over 12,800 registered suppliers and over 100 purchasing organisations. Achilles owns and operates the globally recognised supplier management systems of FPAL, JQS and Siclar with offices in Argentina, Colombia, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, UK and Venezuela with the most recent addition being in Poland for onshore CSG buyers and suppliers. New systems have also been road-mapped for Bahrain and the UAE and North America. With the acquisition of Supplybase VRS, Achilles Asia Pacific will now also have people located in Perth which will complement existing operations in Brisbane, Hong Kong and Mumbai (approved for mid 2011).
Through the introduction of Achilles’ new IT platform, Supplybase VRS will undergo a transformation that will provide buying organisations the ability to search and filter comprehensive validated, verified and assessed supplier information dependant on their exact needs. The new system will also provide an opportunity for local suppliers to extend their goods and services to over 100 of the worlds’ largest oil and gas companies.
The finished product will be “First Point Supplybase” (FPS).

In particular, using these services collaboratively greatly improves efficiencies and outcomes for the industry.
Much of the information concerns the new Achilles system platform, and because this is still under development, some changes might occur from time to time during its release in the next few months. We’ll keep you up to date with changes, through added information and comments on these pages.
Note also that some of the explanatory documents and videos are for both Achilles staff and for customers, and therefore a few comments may not appear to be directly relevant to you. The videos were made for the utilities industry, but the structure and processes will be the same for FPS.
