Slovenské elektrárne, a.s., a member of Enel Group, and Italian-Slovak Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia host Partnership Workshops for Utility suppliers

08 Apr 2009

Slovenské elektrárne, a member of Enel Group, in cooperation with the Italian-Slovak chamber of commerce and the Italian Embassy in Slovakia, have launched a series of suppliers workshops with Achilles, a renowned sustainable procurement services qualification company. These workshops are aimed at encouraging both Slovak and Italian suppliers to seize the opportunities offered by Enel’s continuing investment in the Slovak nuclear sector through Slovenské elektrárne. Enel’s main investment in Slovakia will be the completion of Units 3 and 4 of the nuclear power plant Mochovce in the next couple of years, for at least EUR 2.775 billion euros.

The initial meeting, which took place in Bratislava on 5 March, highlighted available opportunities for Slovak and Italian suppliers, as well as outlining the benefits of partnership.  Suppliers were also introduced to the Connexio Supplier pre-qualification system developed in cooperation with Achilles.  Slovenské elektrárne and Enel will benefit from supplier qualification from an independent third party such as Achilles and at the same time suppliers themselves will benefit from subscribing to Connexio.  Once qualified, suppliers’ details will be available to all utilities registered with Connexio, thus improving their business opportunities.

In addition to the 30 attending suppliers, officials representing both the Slovak and Italian governments participated in the workshop. They included Brunella Borzi Cornacchia, Italian Ambassador to the Slovak Republic, Michele Bologna, Executive Vice-President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce, Alessandro Villa, Director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and a delegation of Members of the Italian and Slovak Parliament, headed by the Chairmen of the economic committees Andrea Gibelli and Maroš Kondrót.

“We were very pleased by the commitment of both the Slovak and Italian authorities, to this initiative,” commented Vincenzo Napoli, Chief Procurement Officer of Slovenské elektrárne. "Connexio is part of our tendering process which gives strong visibility to the supplier within the whole Enel Group.”

“This ongoing investment by Slovenské elektrárne, a member of Enel Group, offers strong opportunities for suppliers and we encourage them to join the Achilles Connexio scheme to ensure maximum benefit,” said Per Karschowski, Managing Director of Achilles Central Europe.
